High Salary Guards

Players costing over $12,000

Ben Simmons (vs TOR – $13,500): Needs 58.8 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 26.9 fantasy points against Toronto. As I’ve said all series, I don’t like Simmons in this matchup. Maybe he ends up coming through in Game 3 with the Sixers back at home and feeding off that crowd. But the Raptors have schemed him out nicely, which has put the attention on Jimmy Butler. He can still rack up numbers, but he’s a tough sell right now. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable with a good ceiling.

Kyle Lowry (at PHI – $12,500): Needs 54.4 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 33.5 fantasy points against Philadelphia. Lowry is playing well and numbers are rarely an issue for him. It seems obvious that he won’t deliver an outright big game, but he’s putting up better numbers than Simmons at a slightly lower price. Granted, his ceiling isn’t as high as Simmons on a night-to-night basis. Still, Lowry is a solid play. Diagnosis: Reliable with a decent ceiling.

Jimmy Butler (vs TOR – $12,000): Needs 51.2 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 53.5 fantasy points against Toronto. Butler came alive in Game 2 and that’s good news for the Sixers. As I said prior to both games, the Sixers need Butler in this series because he can get his own shot on the perimeter. And those guys typically dominate in the playoffs. We’ve seen this before where he delivers big and then is invisible. But I trust him. Diagnosis: Reliable with a high ceiling.
