5 bold Premier League predictions: Manchester City held by Leicester
1. Cardiff beat Crystal Palace to take relegation fight to final day
The bottom of the Premier League has almost been as exiting as the top this season. Despite Fulham and Huddersfield being relegated fairly early, there’s been a big fight at the bottom for survival.
Newcastle, Southampton and Burnley have all been drawn into this battle and managed to avoid it through their grit and determination. That has left Brighton and Cardiff in a survival battle that could go down to the last day of the season.
Brighton have a very difficult away game to Arsenal this weekend and it’s likely that the Seagulls will lose that one. If they do that means Cardiff could give themselves one more shot at survival and take it to the final day of the season.
If Neil Warnock’s side are to do that then they will need to beat Crystal Palace this weekend. That will be no easy feat as the Eagles seem to perform better away from home than they do on their own soil.
Cardiff’s resilience in big games has shone through though with big wins at Brighton and at home to the likes of Wolves and Bournemouth. They hindered their survival chances last weekend with a disappointing loss at Fulham when a point would have given them much more hope.
Neil Warnock knows that his side can win this match but consistency has been the Bluebirds real problem this season. The Welsh club will need a strong start on Saturday and if they can get an early goal then it wouldn’t be surprising to see them hold on for all three points.
Cardiff are not a great side to watch and they may not deserve to be in this league more than Brighton but they will definitely give it their all to take it to the final day of the season. Warnock’s men will scrape this game 2-1 and keep fighting until the end.
