3. Jamie Collins

Another linebacker option for the Jets could be Jamie Collins, who is still looking for a job after being cut by the Browns earlier this offseason. Collins was productive for Cleveland in 2018, racking up 104 tackles and four sacks, but his inconsistent play and a high cap charge led the Browns to dump him.

There are questions about whether or not Collins is on the decline or simply had a bad year, but this is a guy who isn’t too far removed from being a premier linebacker in the NFL. The Browns gave up a third round pick at the 2016 trade deadline to land Collins from New England, and then proceeded to make him the highest paid outside linebacker in the league.

There is a scheme fit here with the Jets since their new defensive coordinator is Gregg Williams, who ran the Browns’ unit last season. Collins could be a solid addition for the Jets since he was productive and knows the playbook, which could allow him to help Williams install the system on a new team.

At this point in the offseason, Collins is probably looking to land a one year deal to prove he still has something left in the tank. The Jets should definitely explore that type of contract for Collins, who could provide massive upside to a defense that needs some help at outside linebacker.
