4. LaVall Jordan

Jordan was an assistant at Michigan under Beilein from 2010-2016, before moving on to become head coach at Milwaukee and putting up an 11-24 record in one season there. But when Butler (his alma mater) needed to replace Chris Holtmann, Jordan stepped in there.

The Bulldogs won 21 games and made the NCAA Tournament in Jordan’s first season, then fell below .500 (16-17, 7-11 in the Big East) with a first-round NIT loss last season. He doesn’t seem to be on the hot seat heading into next year, but a solid rebound campaign seems to be in order for Jordan to firmly secure his job status going forward.

As a Beilein disciple, Jordan is easy to hone in on as a candidate to become the next coach at Michigan. Whether the school’s brass agrees is at best unclear right now, and Jordan may simply not want to leave his alma mater after just two seasons. But if there is any mutual interest, Jordan might be headed back to Ann Arbor when it’s all said and done.
