5. Jo Adell

Jo Adell, the top prospect in the Los Angeles Angels organization, is an unlikely trade target. But Mike Trout didn’t sign a 12-year contract extension with the team to continue to miss the playoffs year after year. That means the Angels would look to make a move in order to contend this season instead of waiting for Adell to develop into a big league player.

The 20-year-old Adell can hit for average and power while also providing speed on the bases. He hit .290 with 20 home runs across Single-A and Double-A in 2018, while also stealing 15 bases. He does struggle at times to make contact, striking out 111 times in 99 games. He has yet to play in 2019 while recovering from injuries sustained in Spring Training.

The Angels could desperately use one of the starters the Blue Jays are trying to trade. Los Angeles ranks last in the majors with a 5.84 ERA from their starting pitchers. They have managed to win nine of their last 13 games as of Tuesday to creep back to within a game of .500 for the season.

If the Angels come calling for either Stroman or Sanchez, the Blue Jays could land one of the most exciting outfield prospects to come around in recent years. It may be a long shot, but the need is there for both clubs.
