1. Kevin Durant

The Durant-to-New-York rumors have been around for so long that this almost seems like a done deal. Durant is perhaps the most elite individual scorer in the NBA and has improved tremendously at the defensive end over his two seasons with the Warriors. While he’s unfortunately out with injury right now, we’ve seen over his Golden State tenure that he’s more than capable of leading a championship team with huge playoff performances.

Durant could pair with anyone on this list, splitting time between the 3 or the 4 depending on the lineup and giving the Knicks more than enough firepower to be among the East favorites. Put him with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving and they might have the best core in the league. Of course, it takes more than just star power to win a title. If not Durant, odds are the Knicks will land at least one player on this list. From there, it’s all about how they manage the young players left on the team and fill out the rest of the roster with complementary depth.
