3. Re-sign D’Angelo Russell

This season, D’Angelo Russell set the NBA on fire as he moved from a potential star, to an actual star. Playing in 81 games, Russell went on to average 21 points per game and 7 assists. Russell was probably the main reason why the Nets were able to take the next step and make the playoffs.

Russell was also the lone representative of the Nets at this season’s All-Star game. If the Nets want to bring Russell back to Brooklyn, they are probably going to give him at least $20 million per year. It will be a very interesting decision for the Nets to make as they find themselves in a peculiar situation. While they could just sign Russell and move on with it, if they choose to not re-sign Russell, it would open up two max contracts for potential superstars to bring their talents to Brooklyn. It will probably be a waiting game for the Nets as they feel out the possibility of them being able to sign two of the best free agents in this year’s free agency.

However, if the Nets decide to re-sign Russell, they would probably need to pair him with another offensive-minded forward like Tobias Harris. This would give them an extremely exciting and intriguing lineup of Russell, Caris Levert, Joe Harris, Tobias Harris, and Jarrett Allen.

While it seems as if the Nets would like to bring him back, it probably all depends on if they can sign two max contracts this offseason.
