Los Angeles Sparks: Derek Fisher’s dysfunctional tenure with the New York Knicks was just a Knicks-related fluke
If two-time WNBA champion Brian Agler was still with the Sparks, one would have to say that they’re a bona fide favorite. But the coach in Los Angeles now is Fisher, who comes in with a career .294 winning percentage, with the New York Knicks. However, given the near-constant chaos surrounding the Knicks, it would be impossible to say we’ve gotten a truly complete picture of who Fisher is as a coach. If Fisher was dumped into the wrong situation in the NBA, he was placed in exactly the right one in the WNBA: the Sparks currently have the league’s best starting lineup, and they’re stacked with championship experience. It’s absolutely possible that a 19-15 record in 2018 was just a slight dip for an otherwise dynastic core group.
