Los Angeles Sparks: Is it more important to have a top-heavy roster or a deep one?

The excitement in Los Angeles is justified, as the Sparks look to have the strongest starting lineup in the league. However, the Sparks, — whose rotation only went eight-deep last year — lost two key rotation players in Essence Carson (free agency, to Phoenix) and Odyssey Sims (trade, to Minnesota, in exchange for unproven Alexis Jones). Plus, the awful legal issues surrounding guard Riquna Williams mean that her future is up in the air as well. The Storm were able to win the championship in 2018 with their bench unit typically dragging down the starters’ high plus-minus numbers: will the Sparks be able to do the same?
