Alabama – Bo Jackson

Bo Jackson knew he’d be the first person up on this list. How you ask? It’s not just because Alabama is the first state when the U.S. is put into alphabetic order, it’s because…

Bo Knows.

Sorry, I definitely had to work that one in. Bo Jackson became the face of Nike with the campaign with the slogan that is mentioned in the line above, starring as a two-sport athlete for the Oakland Raiders of the NFL and the Kansas City Royals of the MLB.

In his time at Auburn from 1982-1985 the Bessemer, Alabama native rushed for a whopping 4,303 yards while averaging 6.6 yards per carry, an SEC record to this day. In his sophomore campaign in 1983, Jackson rushed for 1,213 yards while averaging 7.7 yards per carry. In his four years as a Tiger, he had 43 rushing and two receiving touchdowns and played 11 or more games in each of those seasons.

You know the deal by now, as Jackson was also one of the most awe-inspiring athletes of his generation, starring in both football and baseball in his collegiate years, and was thus drafted with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft (amidst a bit of controversy), and also signed with the Kansas City Royals.

A Heisman winner and one of the truly great athletes of our time, Jackson wins a tight race out of Alabama.
