Ohio – Archie Griffin

Out of the many players who have an argument to represent Ohio, only one of them has won the Heisman twice.

Archie Griffin rushed for 1,400 yards in every season except for his freshman year at Ohio State. His sophomore season saw him rush for 1,577 yards and seven touchdowns. However, his greatest performances came in his third season as a Buckeye when he rushed for 1,695 yards and 12 touchdowns, winning his first Heisman. He won it again the next year despite his numbers taking a dip, but still led the Big Ten in rushing for a third year in a row.

Griffin would go on to be drafted with the No. 24 overall pick in a 1976 NFL Draft that would produce some stellar talent. Even now, in Columbus, Griffin is treated as not only a hometown hero, but as a living legend as well.
