West Virginia – Randy Moss

Randy Moss is one of the all-time great receivers in the game of football, and his NFL record for most receiving touchdowns in a rookie season (17) still stands today. That wasn’t a surprise to anyone who saw him break all kinds of records for two seasons at Marshall.

Before he became one of the most electrifying receivers in NFL history, the Rand native carved up secondaries at the Division I-AA level.

Moss set Division I-AA records for most consecutive games with a touchdown catch (13), most touchdown passes caught in a season (28), and most receiving yards by a freshman (1,709). The Herd went undefeated in 1996, with Moss scoring four of the team’s touchdowns in the National Championship.

Moss continued his career with great success, finishing his career at Marshall with 3,529 yards on just 174 receptions, with 54 touchdowns. He was the recipient of the Fred Biletnikoff Award in his senior campaign and was a finalist for the 1997 Heisman Trophy alongside stars like Peyton Manning and Charles Woodson.
