California – Reggie Bush

Naming the best college football player in California is one tough ask, and is, by nature, almost impossible to find one everyone would agree on. The great state of California has produced a lot of talented football players over the years, but Bush gets the nod here.

A two-time consensus All-American and one-time Heisman Trophy winner (later forfeit aside), Bush was electrifying at the college level before heading into a solid NFL career.

Under coach Pete Carroll, Bush was immediately effective as Carroll’s five-way threat type of running back. With great catching ability to mix with typical carrying and returning, Bush was exactly the dynamic back Carroll wanted.

Bush accumulated 4,470 yards from scrimmage to pair with 38 total touchdowns. On his way to those statistics, he averaged 7.3 yards per carry, and 13.7 yards per reception. He was a lethal weapon out of the backfield in his three years as a Trojan.
