9. player. 142. . F. Limoges. Sekou Doumbouya

Check out the highlights above for a taste of Doumbouya’s growing game. The Guinean combo forward who grew up in France is just 18 and continues to get better. Doumbouya played by far the best game of his life last week, putting up 34 points and nine rebounds on 18 shots for Limoges CSP.

Fran Frischilla scouted Doumbouya’s game for The Miami Herald:

“Really interesting prospect. NBA athleticism, nice skill package, improving his shooting from the perimeter. Lot to like about the long-term potential. He’s going to be one of the youngest players taken in first round [barely 18] if not the youngest. He’s absolutely in Miami’s wheelhouse in terms of athleticism and long-term potential. They have to do due diligence away from the court.”

Washington seems to have locked in on the raw international prospect. When every mock draft in the galaxy projects one guy to one team after a bunch of media and team executives spend a week together, there’s probably something to the reporting.

No one has come out and said the Wizards are specifically going to pick Doumbouya, but it feels like a calculated risk for a franchise trying to reset in the aftermath of John Wall’s devastating Achilles and foot injuries just after signing a huge contract extension.
