Luka Jovic

Eintracht Frankfurt’s permanent deal for Luka Jovic was an absolute steal, as Frankfurt didn’t even have to give up 7 million for the Benfica loanee. All signs point towards Jovic leaving to Real Madrid for a hefty fee, rumored to be at around 60 million Euros.

There have always been reports linking Jovic and Bayern, but those were recently called into question. It seems like anything other than a Jovic-to-Madrid transfer would come as a surprise to fans, but nothing is set in stone until an official signing is announced. Such is the nature of transfer rumors.

Jovic may not be a perfect fit for Bayern since he doesn’t offer Werner’s versatility out wide. A pure striker with an eye for goal, Jovic would have been an ideal replacement for Lewandowski, but the Polish star seems to be in Bayern’s plans for the foreseeable future.

Last season, Jovic stood out for Frankfurt, leading the team to a semifinals appearance in the Europa League and bagging 17 goals. Sebastien Haller and Filip Kostic were arguably more instrumental in seventh-place Frankfurt’s season, but Jovic has the most upside of Frankfurt’s quartet of stars (the fourth being Croatian Ante Rebic) at the age of 21.

With his finishing ability and his methodical movement in the box to always find himself open, Jovic’s game is far more efficient and advanced than most 21-year-old’s. Bayern shouldn’t be ruled out as a possible landing spot if a deal were to fall through between Real and Jovic.

Like Bayern, Real have their own options at striker, as Karim Benzema was their best player last season and Mariano was a big signing in the 2018 summer transfer window. If Real decides they don’t want to meet Jovic’s asking price and Jovic would rather stay in Germany to play for Bayern, there’s still a chance this move happens.
