5 players Manchester City should target this summer

Jerome Boateng
Another defensive option for Man City to consider is Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng. The 30-year old worked with Guardiola before during their shared time in Munich but has now fallen out of favor at the club.
Boateng has battled with muscle injuries over the last four seasons which ultimately led to him losing his starting position at Bayern. Despite this, he still made 28 appearances across all competitions as Bayern pulled off a domestic double.
The World Cup winners is still one of the better central defenders in Europe and would be a good option to have outside of Laporte and Stones. A rotation role would suit both player and club, with Boateng avoiding the risk of injury through repetitive strain and City gaining strong cover for the starting pair.
He might not be the first choice signing, but Boateng would serve as a cheaper, more experienced alternative to De Ligt in the event that the club wish to spend big in other departments.
