10. SS Jamal Adams, New York Jets

There’s been no postseason appearance for the Green and White since 2010. That was a year that the New York Jets got within one victory of reaching the Super Bowl. Since then, there have been a couple of respectable seasons, including a 10-6 finish in 2015. But these past three years, the team has really hit the skids, finishing last in the AFC East each of those seasons and combining for a dismal 14-34 record over that stretch.

But one very big bright spot these last two seasons has been the play of steady strong safety Jamal Adams. Then-general manager Mike Maccagnan used the sixth overall pick in 2017 NFL draft to land the former LSU standout. He was a 16-game starter as a rookie, finishing with 82 tackles a pair of sacks, two fumble recoveries and six passes defensed. This past season, he was once again in the starting lineup for all 16 contests. He finished second on the club with a 115 total stops, to go along with 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and a pair of takeaways on his way to his first Pro Bowl invitation.

In 2019, the Jets are now under the command of sideline leaders Adam Gase. More significantly, when it comes to Adams, the club has a new defensive coordinator in Gregg Williams. It will be interesting to see what kind of year the 23-year-old performer has in the coach’s aggressive system.
