Week-by-week predictions

Game 1: at Louisville

Louisville was downright awful in the 2018 season and, while they should take a step forward this year, they won’t be able to compete with the heavy hitters in college football like Notre Dame.

Result: Win

Game 2: vs. New Mexico

After an easy win against Louisville, the home-opener for the Fighting Irish against the Lobos shouldn’t be much different as they cruise to a 2-0 record.

Result: Win

Game 3: at Georgia

Even if Notre Dame were playing Georgia at a neutral site, I would still have the Dawgs circled as the better team in this matchup. With this game being in Athens, though, it should be a comfortable UGA win.

Result: Loss

Game 4: vs. Virginia

Virginia is by no means going to be an easy team for any team to beat in 2019, but the Cavaliers don’t exactly have the offensive firepower to match what Kelly’s team should be able to put forth in that regard.

Result: Win

Game 5: vs. Bowling Green

Put simply, anything but an emphatic and blowout win for the Fighting Irish against Bowling Green would be a disappointment to those in South Bend.

Result: Win

Game 6: vs. USC

College football fans should expect J.T. Daniels and the Trojans to be more consistent in 2019. Having said that, consistency still doesn’t put them on the level of the Irish.

Result: Win

Game 7: at Michigan

The matchup between the Fighting Irish and Wolverines opened the season last year but it’s a midseason battle in 2019. With this game being in the Big House and Jim Harbaugh’s team expected to again be a powerful contingent, Michigan gets the win this year.

Result: Loss

Game 8: vs. Virginia Tech

Though there is a chance that the Hokies are a feisty team that pulls off some upsets in the 2019 season, Notre Dame should be motivated coming off their second loss and handle business in South Bend.

Result: Win

Game 9: at Duke

For my money, the 2019 season is going to be a rough one for the Blue Devils. Even facing Kelly’s team in Durham, Duke won’t have much of a chance to even keep this one all that close.

Result: Win

Game 10: vs. Navy

The triple-option offense of the Midshipmen always provides challenges for any opposing team but Navy simply isn’t a strong enough overall team to hang with the Irish.

Result: Win

Game 11: vs. Boston College

Boston College is going to be an intriguing matchup for any team given the prowess of their rushing attack and how that can control the game. Having said that, the Notre Dame defense should be equipped to handle it and pull out their ninth win of the year.

Result: Win

Game 12: at Stanford

Led by K.J. Costello, Stanford is by no means going to be an easy team to get past in the 2019 season. However, the Fighting Irish offense should be in a good enough spot to ultimately go on the road and close out the regular season with a victory.

Result: Win

Final Record: 10-2
