22. Asuka (c) vs. Ember Moon for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III

Where their first match at NXT TakeOver: Orlando was more of a feeling out process, their second match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III left everything on the table as Asuka and Ember Moon went to war for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Moon blasted Asuka with a dropkick to begin the match and stayed on the attack until Asuka capitalized and launched Moon into the steel stairs with the same shoulder she’d injured months before.

Asuka capitalized on the injury, and grounded Moon in armlocks to keep her from executing her effective aerial assault. As she continued to punish her opponent, Asuka even took the time out to taunt the women she took the NXT Women’s Title from, as Bayley sat ringside along with Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch for what would be a historic night for Asuka.

With it being her last match in NXT, everyone wondered whether or not she’d go out undefeated or if Moon would be the first to break Asuka’s winning streak. To her credit, Moon gave it everything she had. She even managed to catch Asuka with her signature finish, The Eclipse, but Asuka kicked out at the very last second.

The match continued to go back-and forth until Asuka managed to catch Moon in the Asuka Lock and forced her to tap. Moon pushed Asuka to her limits but came up short in the end, allowing Asuka to remain undefeated with over 500 days as NXT Champion before she departed for the main roster.
