Antoine Griezmann

Atletico Madrid star Antonie Griezmann seemed to be Barcelona-bound last summer, but with rumors swirling during France’s eventual World Cup triumph, Griezmann announced on a television special that he’d be staying in the Spanish capital.

This didn’t sit too well with Barcelona’s brass, and there may be some friction between Griezmann and the players on Barcelona who allegedly want the club to avoid signing him after those events.

The drama doesn’t end there either, as Atletico Madrid are also reportedly considering legal action against Barcelona for negotiating with the star player, depending on what their own investigation into Griezmann’s contract situation reveals.

Yes, it’s all quite messy, and the drama is only getting started; Griezmann’s summer 2019 is about to be even wilder than last year’s.

Even so, one thing is clear: Griezmann is one of the absolute best attacking players in the world and would be an impact player on Barcelona, Manchester United, or whichever top club he heads to.

All signs point to Atletico cashing in on the 28-year-old star this summer, and La Liga’s top club could still be a landing spot.

Barcelona need another consistent, goal-scoring threat who can also help Suarez, and Griezmann could be a great partner-in-crime for Messi, especially if Philippe Coutinho heads out the door this summer.
