Amandine Henry (France)

The 29-year-old defensive midfielder will be one of the host nation’s greatest hopes as they try to win a World Cup for the first time. She’s a veteran of the last World Cup and hopes to carry that experience over to success at home this summer.

American fans know her for her success with the Portland Thorns in 2016 and 2017. A tireless competitor, Henry is one of the best female players France has ever produced. She currently plays for Lyon.

Known for her grit and tackling ability, Henry loves to strip players and make things happen once she gets the ball. Henry has 78 caps and 11 goals for France. Look for her to again be one of the tournament’s standout defenders after winning the Silver Ball at the 2015 World Cup as the tournament’s second-best player.
