Kalidou Koulibaly

Most of the stars on Real Madrid’s radar this summer seem to be big-name attacking players, which makes sense since the club only had one player with more than 10 goals in La Liga. But Real have already taken steps to replacing Karim Benzema one day by signing Luka Jovic, who is 21 years old and already arguably a better pure scorer and No. 9 than the experienced French striker.

But Real could also use some help at the back, especially if Sergio Ramos is serious about leaving Los Blancos this summer. Real have already reportedly offered 90 million euros for Napoli center back Kalidou Koulibaly, but this bid was rejected.

It seems like Koulibaly could be ticketed for a reunion with Maurizio Sarri at Juventus, and Manchester United should also be interested in adding one of the best defenders in the world to their sagging defense.

However, if Madrid up their offer to something meeting or exceeding 100 million euros, Koulibaly could be theirs. Koulibaly is a rare talent at the position and has firmly established himself as a world-class player. He could anchor Real’s defense for years to come, and, at 27, it seems like this is the right time for him to leave to one of the world’s most prestigious clubs. Koulibaly would be a fan favorite in Madrid, forming an envious partnership with 26-year-old French superstar Raphael Varane at the back.
