Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele first made a name for himself as a wunderkind in Rennes, tearing apart Ligue 1 before moving to Borussia Dortmund where he immediately became a Bundesliga Player of the Year candidate. Unlike the other attacking players mentioned, Dembele has experience playing — and excelling — under Tuchel while at Dortmund. Dembele was so good, in fact, that FC Barcelona came knocking, prying him away from the Bundesliga club for well over 100 million euros.

While Barcelona shouldn’t be interested in transferring a 22-year-old with Dembele’s skills and knack for finding the far corner of the net, a rumored swap deal involving Neymar has been thrown around. Barcelona must focus on getting younger and getting the most out of players like Malcolm and Dembele, but they could also make a desperate move by acquiring Neymar, especially since it doesn’t seem like they will sign Antoine Griezmann. Luis Suarez is on his last legs and Barcelona collapsed in the Champions League, so all bets are off.

There’s little doubt that Dembele would be a dream signing for PSG, and if Neymar were to leave this summer, he’d be the best player PSG could conceivably get in return for the Brazilian megastar. Dembele is one of the world’s most dangerous players on the ball, and he has the upside to notch a combined 30-40 goals and assists in a season one day.

Most likely, Neymar isn’t going anywhere. And most likely, Dembele isn’t going anywhere. But if insanity were to happen in the football world this summer, this is the player-and-cash-swap to keep an eye on.
