Widow’s Peaking

The other two matches on the card were — how do you say — largely inconsequential? Well, let’s maybe not go that far. There’s consequences to be had from them down the road, it’s just that stacked up against a main event whose immediate impact is someone getting a title shot, they feel considerably flatter.

That being said, Kay Lee Ray notches another dominant win in a string of them since debuting in NXT UK. Ray makes Kasey Owens a few more sandwiches short of a picnic than she already self-proclaims to be, picking her apart from bell-to-bell. Following a crescent kick to the face, Ray finishes things with ease, hitting the Widow’s Peak for the three-count.

With Toni Storm fresh off of cancelling The Nina Samuels Show in last week’s main event, she’s going to need a new challenger to step up. Between her unfettered dominance and the fact she was shown closely watching the Storm-Samuels match from backstage, Kay Lee Ray seems the obvious choice.

Plus, don’t you dare forget that time Storm rudely snubbed Ray in her rundown of credible potential opponents. That’s a metaphorical slap in the face you literally cannot take back. You cannot patch up a wound that deep. Sooner or later, Ray will demand satisfaction for having her honor insulted, and challenge Storm for the NXT UK Women’s Championship.
