5 burning questions the Broncos must answer in 2019
1. Is veteran QB Joe Flacco the answer behind center?
As has been well documented, Joe Flacco has one of the strongest arms in the league. But is he the right man for the job in the Mile High City? And can he recapture the form he showed in 2012, when he parlayed a solid but unspectacular year into a memorable postseason and Super Bowl MVP honors?
In his fifth season with Baltimore Ravens, he and head coach John Harbaugh – both whom joined the team in 2008 – had guided the club to a fifth consecutive playoff appearance. That year, he would throw for 22 scores compared to only 10 picks in 16 regular-season contests. He followed that up with 11 TD passes and zero interceptions in four postseason outings. That’s a tidy 33-10 TD to INT differential of plus-23.
Since then, Flacco has played and started a total of 85 games – including playoff tilts with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots, both in 2014. He’s connected for 116 scores but served up 82 interceptions. That’s nearly one pick per game. This past season, he threw 12 TD passes (6 INTs) before sitting with a hip injury after nine games and his playing days were done in Baltimore as the club ushered in the Lamar Jackson Era.

General manager John Elway gave up a fourth-round pick this year to get the 11-year performer. Can he help lead the Broncos back to the playoffs and bring some much-needed stability to the position? It’s been a rocky few years for the team at quarterback and that includes the 2015 championship year.
