It seems Klay Thompson will head to a silver screen in a theatre near you a year after the 2019 NBA Finals .

Klay Thompson is currently locked into the 2019 NBA Finals, but he has some other plans this summer.

According to FOX Sports’ Jason McIntryre, Thompson will join LeBron James in the filming of “Space Jam 2” after his basketball responsibilities are completed. His season could be over by the end of tonight by the way, but that isn’t stopping Thompson from making moves.

"“Everybody thinks (Klay Thompson) is probably staying with the Warriors and I would agree with that,” McIntyre said. “But I heard some news this week that could change things. That Klay Thompson is now ‘locked in’ to do ‘Space Jam 2.’ I don’t think that news is anywhere. I Googled it last night, I went on the internet. Nobody has it. I do believe an announcement will come out after The Finals that Klay Thompson is committed to ‘Space Jam 2,’ he will be in the movie.”"

James is certainly pushing the limits of the NBA’s tampering laws. Thompson will be a free agent this summer, and it’s widely expected that he’ll stay with the Warriors. However, he would be the perfect complement to LeBron, and it’s hard to believe that James won’t try to persuade the California native to switch to his dad’s old team.

The movie will come out in 2021, and it’ll be fun to see which other players sign up for it. LeBron was turned down by Giannis Antetokounmpo, because “The Greek Freak” didn’t want the shooting schedule to interfere with his offseason workouts. Karl-Anthony Towns wants to play the Shawn Bradley role, according to an interview with him last summer, but there is no word yet whether or not he’ll be in the movie. Isaiah Thomas is an obvious choice to play the Muggsy Bogues character though, and we should see a number of other stars in the mix as well.

Whether it will be a good movie (or not) remains to be seen. Let’s just hope it is a little bit better than “Uncle Drew” and “Semi-Pro” were.
