1. Jacob Trouba

Age: 25
Position: D
Current Team: Winnipeg Jets

For the better part of a year, the hockey world has known that defenseman Jacob Trouba would be on his way out of Winnipeg at the end of the 2019 season. One of the NHL’s most complete defenders, Trouba put forth favorable totals in 82 games, scoring 8 goals and 42 assists for a whopping 50 points on the team’s top pairing.

One year out of hitting unrestricted free agency and Trouba’s future remains one of the sport’s bigger blanks to fill. And while the prospect of trading the 25-year-old is far from favorable for Jets’ GM Kevin Cheveldayoff, there is little doubting the fact that Winnipeg can come out on top of the Trouba sweepstakes if a home run trade is ushered forth over the course of the summer ahead.

After a joyless, disappointing 2018-19 campaign, the Jets approach a watershed moment in the club’s recent history. The organization’s administrative body shall surely take a long, hard at all of its roster, with Trouba set to serve as the franchise’s foremost bargaining chip on the trading block. Exciting times, indeed, for hockey fans everywhere.
