10. Connor Brown

Age: 25
Position: RW
Current Team: Toronto Maple Leafs

Those who closely follow the Toronto Maple Leafs will be quick to recall the much hyped — and resultantly quiet — trade deadline of 2019. In part, the silence was brought about by rumors of a deal that failed to come into fruition between the Buds and the Edmonton Oilers, wherein Connor Brown was believed by some to have been shopped for Matt Benning.

While the deal may have fallen through, the thought of Brown — a gritty, defensively sound, offensively decent winger — in an Edmonton uniform is one that prevails in both Maple Leafs and Oilers media. It is no secret that Brown serves as an attractive option among organizations looking to add a depth forward who can play at both ends of the ice. The prospective trade also makes sense for the Maple Leafs, who must evaluate Brown’s $2.1 million contract against its tight cap room, as the 25-year spent much of his time on the fourth line in the 2018-19 season.

There is an argument to be made for the value of keeping Brown — especially considering the fact that the Leafs will lose some of its offensive depth in the up and coming months. But if the club is serious about shedding cap space, the possibility of a trade for No. 28 is at its height.
