9. Matthew Boldy

DOB: April 5, 2001 (age 18)
Position: LW
Shoots: L
Team: USNTDP — USHL
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 187 pounds

The main knock on Matthew Boldy continues to be his skating — a feature that is frequently seen as unremarkable when considered in conjunction with members of his draft class. But the depth of Boldy’s on-ice IQ cannot be underestimated enough. The 18-year-old has an ability to shoot and pass in a fundamentally astute way, as well as a degree of creativity that often catches opponents by surprise.

One of the best stories of this year’s class, Boldy should be a valuable selection in the earlier segment of the first round — under the condition that a team is willing to roll the dice on the continuous improvement of his stride and step.
