1. Jameis Winston

Much like the player who was selected just one pick after him in the draft four years ago, Jameis Winston’s seat is growing quite warm. The fifth-year quarterback will captain a team that’s finished with back-to-back 5-11 seasons. Things haven’t been going as planned in Tampa Bay over the past few years, to say the least.

Limited to just nine starts last season due to a few different reasons, Winston actually posted one of his best seasons. By passer rating standards, 2018 was his second-best campaign. Ranked by QBR, Winston’s 2018 blows the rest out of the water. Tossing 19 touchdowns — along with 14 interceptions — the former Florida State Seminole’s play was consistent with what we’ve seen for the past few seasons.

With newly-appointed offensive coordinator and former NFL quarterback Byron Leftwich at the helm for Tampa Bay, Winston may benefit from his guidance. Not having played a full season since 2016, to say this year will shape the rest of his career wouldn’t be an understatement in the slightest.

Like Mariota, Winston is still just 25 years old. Ages 25-30 are arguably the most important and pivotal years for those who are considered franchise quarterbacks. If Winston can put together a quality 2019 season, he’ll be categorized as one. That’s a big “if,” though.
