A Bachelorette investigation: All aboard the Grant bandwagon

THE BACHELORETTE - "1503" - Eight men get the surprise of their life as husband and wife actors Jason Biggs ("American Pie" movies, "Orange Is the New Black") and Jenny Mollen (TV series "Angel" and "Crash") take them to a birthing class with hilarious results. Which one of Hannah's suitors will endure the experience of simulating childbirth? The Bachelorette gets a real-life health scare and one bachelor comes to her rescue. In return, she rewards him with a private concert by Danish pop and soul band Lukas Graham, performing their hit, "Love Someone." Hannah brings another group of men on a professional photo shoot where they are shocked to find that they are posing with professional models-who are adorable animals. The curious Bachelorette once again employs Demi to share with her what the men do when she is not around, reminiscent of the new Illumination Entertainment film from the creators of "Despicable Me," "The Secret Life of Pets 2." Will the guys pass Demi's test? And later, will one man spin out of control and out of Hannah's life? The men battle to get a rose, whatever it takes, on "The Bachelorette," MONDAY, MAY 27 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/John Fleenor)GRANT, HANNAH BROWN

Who is Grant and why do we suddenly think he is the greatest person on this season of The Bachelorette?

If you’ve been closely studying this season of The Bachelorette like I have, chances are you have no idea who Grant is. While dedicating an entire post to exploring the lives of the unknown contestants in last week’s investigation, it was still hard to find any information on Grant. Everyone loves a true underdog story, so let’s make one up.

If you are unsure who Grant is, you aren’t alone. Most of Bachelor Nation would have a hard time picking him out of a crowd. Here’s a general tip: He’s the guy who kind of looks like Chandler from the later-seasons of Friends. Other than this, I can’t help you.

We know that Hannah has yet to even kiss some of the men still on the show, as Kevin pointed out last week when he was surprised to see her straddling Jed in Scotland. We know Kevin. Given how far he’s made it without getting a kiss, is it even safe to assume Hannah and Grant have met?

I mean, sure, she’s called his name out for a rose at least four times now but does she even know him? We’ve all been in those situations where we aren’t really paying attention and then something is asked of us. This leads to that moment where you snap out of your daze and are forced to admit you weren’t listening. Is Hannah experiencing that with Grant? Could she be giving him roses because she isn’t exactly sure who he is and doesn’t want to admit it this late in the game?

If I’m being completely honest, as I write this, I’m not even 100 percent sure Grant is still on the show.

This isn’t meant to take anything away from Grant. We literally know nothing about the guy. You can’t judge a book by its cover if you haven’t even seen the cover of the book. Grant could be the best or worst person alive but we won’t find out until Luke P. gets the hell off our television sets (soon, please). At this point, Hannah has moved very quickly with three contestants and spent the rest of her time dealing with Luke. It’s like a fast-tracked season but with all of the cast’s drama coming from one person. Our hero, Grant, is getting left behind.

If you’re reading this and thinking “Wait, I still don’t think I really know which one Grant is,” then you are not alone. I am also unsure. What I am sure about, though, is that Grant is my new favorite contestant and he should be yours, too. He is the common man who somehow snuck onto one of the biggest reality shows on television.

Grant was probably just in the vicinity of the Bachelorette mansion, out for a walk before being grabbed and pulled in as a last-second filler for that guy who was a complete P.O.S to his ex. Grant is perhaps the longest of long shots but if he can just get a few minutes with Hannah at some point this season, we know he can win her heart.

Join me as we cheer for our new champion, Grant. If The Bachelorette‘s production crew decides to show him outside of a rose ceremony, we celebrate. If he utters more than three words to Hannah, we celebrate. When he pulls the most improbable comeback in Bachelorette history and finishes this season by getting down on one knee, we celebrate! Grant is our new underdog story.
