4. Philadelphia Flyers

Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher promised to be aggressive this offseason, and he’s off to a fast start. Acquiring the rights to Kevin Hayes from the New York Rangers has now come with a seven-year deal worth with an AAV north of $7.1 million, to go with getting Matt Nistanen from the Washington Capitals and Justin Braun from the San Jose Sharks to bolster the blue line. As draft night approaches, the No. 11 overall pick may even be in play for Fletcher to move.

Philadelphia was a middle of the pack scoring team last season (2.94 goals per game; 18th in the league), with a power play that was 23rd in the NHL in goals scored with the man advantage (40) and success rate (17.1 percent). So some scoring punch is needed, and Hayes will help that.

But a shift to win-now mode, and a proven coach in Alain Vigneault in place now, puts someone like Perry in play for the Flyers. And with somewhere around $22 million in cap space, they could make what will go down as an ill-advised offer for more than one guaranteed year.

Money is probably not going to be the main motivation for Perry as he hits the open market. But if a market for his services doesn’t really form, an aggressive offer from Philadelphia will be hard to dismiss.
