Several pundits are inclined to think that the Buffalo Sabres are leaning toward drafting a center. One such subject of consideration is Kirby Zach of the Saskatoon Blades. Offering a unique package — size, terrific on-ice IQ, impressive skating and an astute passing ability — the 18-year-old boasts a fine skillset that shall only improve as his career progresses.

Dach is simply too rare of a gem to be passed upon, as his trajectory suggests that he has the capacity to play a key role in pulling struggling clubs out of the doldrums. The Sabres are one such organization, so look for GM Jason Botterill to undertake the wise course of action if the opportunity presents itself, and break from the habits of recent history.
