Atlanta Falcons: Chris Miller

The Atlanta Falcons made Chris Miller the No. 13 overall selection in the 1987 NFL Draft, as they were looking for their next franchise quarterback. During his time at Oregon, Miller spent three years as the starting quarterback, showing flashes for the Ducks that he could go on to be a starter at the NFL level.

When the Falcons came calling in 1987, Miller was given that chance, and he stayed on as the quarterback for the franchise for seven seasons. After starting only two games as a rookie, Miller would be thrust into the starting role in 1988, and led the team to only one winning season in his time under center.

That season, 1991, was by far Miller’s best as a pro, as he led the team to the playoffs, and made his first, and only Pro Bowl. At only 26-years old, Miller seemed to be poised to take the next step into being one of the better quarterbacks in the league, but he never really got there.

Concussions would end up derailing his career, and in his seven seasons in Atlanta, the Falcons posted only a 23-43 record. When you consider they won nine games in 1991, it shows how much this team struggled during his time there. Miller would end up heading to the Rams to be their starter in 1994, but lasted only two seasons there. He ended up retiring after a one-year stint in Denver.
