WWE Stomping Grounds 2019: Raw Women’s Championship match preview

At WWE Stomping Grounds, Becky Lynch is set to defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Lacey Evans for the second time.

Loooord here we go again. Lacey Evans already tapped to Becky Lynch in their Raw Championship Match at Money in the Bank but she’s somehow managed to get another shot at the title at Stomping Grounds. Since this is entertainment, we’ll just have to assume she read the Charlotte Flair handbook on how tall blondes keep getting title matches without earning them. Or perhaps Evans “curried favor” again to get this match.

In reality it’s a way to continue the storyline between “The Lady” and “The Man.” Since Evans cost Lynch her SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank we knew this rematch was coming. But despite Evans’ continued talk about becoming champion that still seems highly unlikely.

Lynch is still a red-hot commodity so stripping her of both of her titles within a few months of winning them would dilute her WrestleMania main event win. Still, stranger things have happened. The office could really be looking to push Evans (before she’s ready) or they could want Lynch to go back to being the perpetual underdog chasing the title instead of having it. It’s hard to say, but with two women’s championship matches on the card we could see one title change hands.

Hopefully, Lynch will dispatch Evans for the second time and be done with her for a while. Then we could see some of the other matches that Lynch herself has been requesting. With the brand split basically non-existent, that opens up the playing field much wider. Seeing as though Alexa Bliss, a Raw Superstar, is competing for the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bayley, anything is possible.

At the moment Evans, Bliss, and Flair are the top female heels. With Flair MIA from the pay-per-view, that leaves the other two blondes to take on Becky “Red Belt” and Bayley “Blue Belt.” Let’s hope the champs both retain their titles until Survivor Series so we can see them face off one more time.
