1. Zac Gallen, Miami Marlins

Speaking of major league debuts, Gallen made his for the Marlins this past Thursday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. He went five innings, throwing 99 pitches while allowing one run on five hits to go with six strikeouts and two walks.

In 14 starts (91.1 innings) for Triple-A New Orleans this year, Gallen posted a 1.77 ERA with 112 strikeouts (11.0 K/9) and just 17 walks (1.7 BB/9). He was part of Miami’s return from the Cardinals in the Marcell Ozuna trade prior to last  season, and delivered a solid 2018 campaign for the Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate (25 starts-133.1 innings; 3.65 ERA, 9.2 K/9, 3.2 BB/9). Early this year, he found another level to make his big league call-up a formality.

Gallen really should have been stashed a couple weeks ago in NL-only leagues. His ownership rates have risen dramatically in recent days, on the heels of his debut with reaction to Montas’ suspension surely mixed in, so mixed leagues owners will have to act quickly now too.
