The Florida Gators currently don’t have an outside linebacker commit on their roster outlook for 2020.  What better way to kick off recruiting at the position than by landing Sav’ell Smalls, the top outside linebacker available?

If any program has a shot at keeping Alabama from landing another top linebacker recruit, it could be fellow SEC program Florida. Dan Mullen had an impressive first year with the Gators and Todd Grantham has helped develop some talent in the defense.

Grantham’s been key in the recruiting process of Smalls and it’s clear the Gators are working hard to land him. Smalls would certainly push the Florida 2020 class into another tier if he were to give them his commitment.

The SEC East has been a little more forgiving than the SEC West, but Georgia is trying to put a blockade in the division. Having a pass rushing talent that can get after the pipeline of quarterbacks the Bulldogs have coming would be big for Mullen’s program.

At the end of the day, it’s going to be tough to keep Smalls from Alabama but his interest is there for the Gators. He’s the definition of a must-land recruit and would likely be an impact player from the beginning.
