The Michigan Wolverines have tried to find that quarterback of the future in the Jim Harbaugh tenure. It’s been a struggle to help find one to put the program over the top as they chase a College Football Playoff spot.

What they have been able to do successfully is run the ball a bit. If the Wolverines can at least keep a steadfast running game, they’ll have their chance to compete.

In the land of the Big Ten, all the top programs have a back that can grind out the tough yards and put the team on his back. Going against the likes of Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State each season is no easy task.

The Wolverines have interest in and an offer out to just about every top running back. If they can’t land Zachary Evans, Kendall Milton would be a fantastic fallback, but even this is no guarantee by any stretch.

Milton’s a bigger back at 6’2 and 220 pounds. He’s not the fastest running back in the world either, but it’s still solid and he’s the definition of a workhorse.

The Wolverines need to keep funneling impact players into the offense. They’ve done a good job producing a stout defense during Harbaugh’s tenure but their offense has failed them at times. They have to go all out to get a top back.
