The top outside linebacker recruit is going to appear on this list a few times. Sav’ell Smalls is one of the most must-land recruits in the 2020 class.  For the Miami Hurricanes, it would be the crown jewel of their class.

With Manny Diaz taking over the Hurricanes, landing an impact recruit like Smalls right off the bat would add a cornerstone to his defense. The Hurricanes open the season right on the inside of the top-25 and they’re hopeful they can gain some ground in the first year under the tenure of their new coach.

Smalls is a 6’3″ and 230-pound outside linebacker with the prototypical size for an edge defender. The Washington product is receiving interest from all corners of the country and Miami is about as far away as it gets.

Still, Smalls is interested in the Hurricanes and that gives them a chance to add the crown jewel to their 2020 class. Smalls is incredibly talented and scouts describe him as a player with a high football IQ.

Life in the ACC is tough with Clemson rolling through everyone, but Miami has shown over the past few years that they can put forth a good defense. Maintaining a defensive presence is going to be a staple under Diaz.

They face stiff competition from other programs such as Alabama, which seems to run rampant on landing top defensive players, Florida, who is on the up and up and Washington, which of course would be staying at home for Smalls.
