Iowa State hit it big with Brock Purdy’s emergence at quarterback as a freshman. For the rest of his stay with the Cyclones, they need to be committed to building around him.

That includes bringing in weapons in future recruiting classes as well.  Mookie Cooper is a highly sought after wide receiver with offers from across the country. That’s a huge ask for the Cyclones, but if anything, it’s an indication that they’re trying to surround Purdy with impact players.

Cooper isn’t the biggest receiver in the world at 5’9″ and 183 pounds, but he has speed and incredible athleticism that will make it hard for defensive backs to keep up with.

Matt Campbell has done some impressive things during his tenure as head coach of Iowa State. He has them winning games and has even a few upset wins under his belt.

Stealing Cooper away from some of the bigger name schools would be an upset as well. The Cyclones don’t have a wide receiver commit yet for their 2020 class. It’s a position they’re clearly targeting.

In all likelihood, this is an incredibly uphill battle. Then again, discussing some two-star or three-star recruit they’re more likely to get doesn’t exactly fit the parameters of what we’re going for here.
