10. Clint Frazier

The New York Yankees are in desperate need for starting pitching help to round out what appears to be a roster that has every chance to bring home the franchise’s 28th World Series title. While the team’s rotation is thin, they will have a surplus of outfield depth when Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge return from the injured list. The addition of Edwin Encarnacion has sent Frazier to the Minor Leagues, and makes it all the more likely he will be shopped at the trade deadline as the Yankees look for a starting pitcher.

Frazier’s first full season with the Yankees has actually been pretty good on the surface. He is hitting .276/.328/.523 with 11 home runs and 33 RBI in his first 49 games. Frazier is still a free swinger who strikes out frequently and doesn’t draw many walks, but he has shown the potential to provide explosive offense.

The downside with Frazier is his frequent defensive miscues and mental lapses. There have also been several instances where he did not handle the media well. Frazier has a fiery personality, and it hasn’t always meshed well with the pressure cooker that is New York City.

The Yankees have been active at the trade deadline every year since this current core came together, and this July will be no different. Frazier is their most attractive trade chip because he has already proven himself as a hitter at the MLB level. Potential trade partners will likely be willing to overlook his minor issues with the media.
