26. Miami Marlins, 30-47, last in the NL East (ranked 27th last week)

The Marlins have won their last two series against the Cardinals and then swept the Phillies, giving them a 6-4 record over the last 10 games. Surprisingly, the Marlins’ starting pitching actually has the third-best ERA at 3.71 on the year, much of that because of Caleb Smith. The 27-year-old Smith had been this team’s ace all season before hitting the IL with left hip inflammation. He was transferred to the 60-day IL this week and should be out until early July.

But even without Smith, Sandy Alcantara and Trevor Richards have pitched well enough to be considered future pieces of this Marlins rotation, which is surprising. Miami’s bullpen is still one of the worst groups in baseball and their offense doesn’t have any power, but their rotation has been solid in the first half of the season.

25. San Francisco Giants, 34- 44, last in the NL West (ranked 24th last week)

The Giants are another team that should be prepping their assets to sell high as June comes to a close and July rolls in, but man is this roster tough to look at. It’s essentially the ghost of former great Giants who aren’t so great now, plus Evan Longoria, who’s also been not-so-great.

Veteran Pablo Sandoval has had a solid rebound season at 32, with a .873 OPS and nine home runs. The corner infielder could attract teams looking for a versatile bat that can hit from both sides. Tony Watson and Will Smith are likely gone after July as well, with plenty of teams desperate for a lefty reliever going into the final playoff push.
