New York Jets – Le’Veon Bell

There’s been no shortage of controversy surrounding the 27-year-old offseason signing, even though Le’Veon Bell wants nothing more than to put his head down and get to work. Adam Gase has won the power struggle in the New York Jets front office, and even though Gase reportedly didn’t want Bell at the price tag, both sides are willing to move past the talk.

Even the critical Gase understands that Bell is a special talent who can change the entire outlook of the Jets offense in 2019. The Jets have talented pieces around second-year quarterback Sam Darnold in receivers Quincy Enunwa, Robby Anderson, and Jamison Crowder, and all three men complement each other almost perfectly in terms of their differing skill-sets.

However, Bell is the X-Factor who can turn the Jets offense from “bad” to “good” on the strength of his work as a rusher and receiver. Bell is one of the best running backs of this era, and he’s helped change the position with his versatility out of the backfield and highly-regarded patience as a runner.

A workhorse back, Bell has three seasons with over 1,200 yards under his belt and will be both fresher and more motivated than ever after holding out for the 2018 season. Bell’s ability to chew yardage, make plays with the ball in his hands, and always stay open for Darnold could help the Jets offense be more open. In 2018, they struggled mightily to find consistency on the ground, and Bell is on a whole different stratosphere than Elijah McGuire and former Jet Isaiah Crowell in every phase of the game imaginable.
