Biggest Trap Game: at Temple (Oct. 26)

For many Group of 5 teams, losing starting quarterback McKenzie Milton for the 2019 season would be a death-blow. And, certainly, the UCF Knights will be hoping that Milton can rehab from his horrific leg injury suffered late last season and get back on the field in 2020. However, Josh Heupel won’t be up against it in trying to find an adequate replacement for the 2019 season at quarterback.

UCF has both Darriel Mack Jr., who filled in beautifully for Milton after the injury last season, and Notre Dame transfer Brandon Wimbush battling for the starting job in Orlando and both bring the dual-threat skill-set necessary to make the Knights offense hum. And when you combine either player with a veteran group of talented skill position players, UCF’s offense should again be one of the most fun groups in the country.

As for the defense, losing Trysten Hill to the NFL puts a defensive line that was inconsistent at best last season even further into question for the 2019 season. The good news for the Knights defense, however, is that they have one of the most underrated secondaries in the country.

Regardless, UCF should again be the best Group of 5 team in college football again. But to potentially get another winning streak rolling, they have to watch out for a late-October date with the Temple Owls. Though the Owls lost Geoff Collins, they are still a solid group with impressive talent. Moreover, the trip to Temple comes one week prior to a crucial matchup between UCF and Houston and the Knights could very well be caught looking ahead to that one.
