2. Drew Lock will start more games than Joe Flacco

At the moment, everyone inside the Broncos organization is adamant that Flacco will be their starting quarterback. There’s no question that’s what Elway and company want to happen. Unfortunately, the chances of Flacco keeping this team in playoff contention are pretty slim.

If Denver does get off to a slow start, the calls for Lock to replace Flacco on the field are going to become deafening. The former Missouri star has a lot of talent, but he needs a lot of work on his technique. Having a full preseason and several weeks of regular season coaching should allow him to make tremendous strides before he’s pressed into action.

Anyone who believes Flacco is primed to be an effective starter for the Broncos needs to ask themselves why the Ravens let him go. He won a Super Bowl in Baltimore but they were still quick to bench him in favor of a relatively raw rookie. Lock doesn’t enter the NFL any less prepared than Lamar Jackson did after his Louisville career.

If the Broncos manage to hang around .500 this bold prediction won’t come true. Denver’s brain trust will do everything they can to keep Flacco in charge for as long as possible. If this team struggles early, they won’t be able to resist making a change at quarterback.
