4. Colin Miller

Age: 26
Position: D
Team: Vegas Golden Knights

In just their third season in the NHL, the Vegas Golden Knights find themselves in cap trouble. The cost of the corner that they have buried themselves into? One Colin Miller, please.

Coming off a season in which he tallied three goals, 26 assists and 29 points in 65 matchups, the offensively-minded defender shall look to improve his game as he seeks to reestablish himself as one of hockey’s better blue liners. The prospect of Miller being moved has recently become a subject of intrigue — in part because of the unusual circumstances surrounding the Golden Knights’ financial pickle and in part due to the sense of inconsistency that underlines the defender’s game, as the 26-year-old remains susceptible to mistakes at both ends of the ice.

Whatever the case, a very real market exists for the high-risk, high reward defenseman, who carries a reasonable contract of $3.875 million over the next three seasons, as well as an underrated physical element to his style of play (having blocked 64 shots and tallied 122 hits in 2018-19). As such, expect teams in need to inquire about the future of the second-pairing blue liner.
