Week-by-week predictions

Game 1: vs. Florida Atlantic

Lane Kiffin and Florida Atlantic started last season against Oklahoma and couldn’t keep up. Expect more of the same in the opener for 2019 against Ohio State as Day’s team should roll.

Result: Win

Game 2: vs. Cincinnati

The Buckeyes’ second non-conference matchup of the season brings an Ohio team to Columbus and, though Cincinnati is fine, they don’t have the ability to take down OSU.

Result: Win

Game 3: at Indiana

Starting off the Big Ten schedule on the road is never a great thing, but Ohio State should be able to handle it and start off 1-0 in the conference.

Result: Win

Game 4: vs. Miami-Ohio

Another non-conference in-state matchup for the Buckeyes, it’s hard to imagine Miami-Ohio having the horses to put up much of a fight in this one.

Result: Win

Game 5: at Nebraska

Nebraska could be an upstart team in the Big Ten this season as Scott Frost continues to try and turn around the program. Thus, I think they make this one tight against Ohio State, but don’t do enough to win in Lincoln.

Result: Win

Game 6: vs. Michigan State

There are some people that believe in Brian Lewerke and Michigan State for 2019. I am not one of those people and have Ohio State winning handily in this matchup.

Result: Win

Game 7: at Northwestern

This could be a tricky matchup for the Buckeyes as the Wildcats are a talented group that are always well coached. Going on the road and being tested, though, OSU will get the victory.

Result: Win

Game 8: vs. Wisconsin

The Wisconsin rushing attack is one of the most dangerous units in all of college football. However, their defense could struggle and they likely don’t have the pace and explosiveness to keep up with Ohio State.

Result: Win

Game 9: vs. Maryland

Maryland is a team that could be frisky this season with explosiveness and talent, though not a complete team. OSU should be able to handle them and win in Columbus, though.

Result: Win

Game 10: at Rutgers

A late-season road game in the Big Ten would be a tough task against any team that isn’t Rutgers. This one, however, is in Piscataway, meaning Fields and the Buckeyes should win easily.

Result: Win

Game 11: vs. Penn State

Though James Franklin has been great at Penn State, there are more questions than answers about the Nittany Lions entering the 2019 campaign. As such, the Buckeyes should dominate both sides of the ball and win comfortably.

Result: Win

Game 12: at Michigan

Ohio State football has dominated Michigan in the Jim Harbaugh era. However, I have an immense amount of optimism about Josh Gattis and the Wolverines optimism in 2019 and, as a result, Harbaugh and co. get the win at the Big House to end the year in a shootout.

Result: Loss

Final Record: 11-1 (8-1 in Big Ten)
