4. Jordan Howard will score 15 touchdowns

The Eagles were hit hard at the running back position last season. They began the season expecting Jay Ajayi to be their feature back. In the end, Josh Adams emerged to lead the team with 120 carries.

That’s precisely why the Eagles decided to make a trade with the Bears to bring Jordan Howard into the fold. Howard fell out of favor in Chicago due to Matt Nagy’s high-tempo passing attack. Fortunately, he’s a perfect fit for the physical run game Pederson likes to build his offense around.

Howard is going to love the role he’s tasked with in Philadelphia. They aren’t going to ask him to do a ton of pass catching out of the backfield. Instead, they’ll want him to set a physical tone for their team on the ground. The more touches Howard gets, the tougher he is for opposing defenses to stop.

The Eagles will rely on Howard in the red zone more than anywhere else on the field. A key part of their strategy to limit hits on Wentz will be to get the ball across the goal line via their running backs. Howard may not break 1,000 yards rushing due to all the mouths the Eagles offense has to feed, but he’s going to be very efficient. He’ll flirt with 20 touchdowns before settling somewhere around 15 scores.
