MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Cheap Arm/SP2
Sonny Gray (7.6k FD, 9.2k DK) vs. Milwaukee
People probably think I’m crazy for continuing to pick on Milwaukee, but I’ve done it successfully several times over the last week. First, it was with Wade LeBlanc and then a few days ago with Tyler Mahle. The Brewers are a powerful offense in a good hitters’ park here today which is going to keep Gray’s ownership way down, but he’s one of my favorite GPP plays on the slate.
Gray has a 26% K rate this year and a really excellent 30% K rate against lefties. He also happens to have some of the best ground ball rates in the majors this season with a 54.6% GB rate. The only red flag is the walks. If he can avoid putting guys on the base paths via walk tonight, there’s much less chance a 3-run homer than kills his score.
I think he’s got major upside here, and we have seen him do it before against this team as he struck out 9 Brewers over 6 frames back in May. His price on FanDuel is significantly cheaper and that’s where I’ll get most of my exposure.
