FanDuel MLB: Top Hitting Stacks Main Slate

We typically like to target the highest home run rates when looking at offensive stacks. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy for this slate. Also, Canning, at 1.75 per nine innings, has the highest rate and is likely our best pitching option.

So, what do we do? Well, Zach Eflin and Rick Porcello happen to be the only other pitchers giving up more than one home run per nine innings, starting on the mound for the Main slate. Zach is having a solid year pitching, but he’s facing a very good Braves offense in a hitter-friendly SunTrust Park, in Atlanta.

Eflin may have a decent 3.34 ERA, but his 4.74 xFIP is second worst, only below Porcello who we’ll get to in a second. Recently, Zach has given up nine runs in his last start starts, to the Mets and Marlins. Two teams who aren’t exactly offensive juggernauts lately.

Thanks to Canning’s salary/value, I’m comfortable stacking the Braves with big bats from Freddie Freeman ($4,400) and Austin Riley ($3,400). Josh Donaldson ($3,000) may not have the best righty against righty match-up, but he has power and is hot right now. He’s also fairly cheap. Nick Markakis ($3,100), though, has the lefty/righty advantage. That’s a sexy Braves power lineup folks!

Back to Porcello, his metrics are frankly the worst of all starting pitchers on the mound for this slate. Fortunately, the Blue Jays offense is red hot right now. Since June 1st, Toronto has a 110 wRC+, tied for 7th best in baseball.

In the same time, their .467 slugging percentage is tied with another hot offensive team, the Nationals, for 10th best in baseball. And on Thursday night, they’re facing a struggling right-handed pitcher in Porcello.

We did spend a lot of money with the Braves stack, but that’s because I knew there was already value in my pitcher pick and plenty of value from the Blue Jays lineup. I continue to love playing a mid-range salary player like Freddy Galvis ($2,900) at SS. Galvis consistently provides at least some offense each game.

From there, I need to grab the hot bats in the heart of the Jays order, and it’s easy. Eric Sogard ($3,100) is red-hot and dirt cheap considering his recent point return. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ($3,200) is one of the best young bats in the lineup, likely hitting in the top three of the lineup, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. ($3,700) is arguably the best hitter on the team right now.

There will be some weather concerns for the game in Atlanta, so keep your eye on that forecast. But, the Blue Jays game is played in a dome, so we have no concerns about that one getting played. And, these two lineups likely pile up the most points for this slate.
